Tutorial
Learn on the example project
This tutorial takes you through Gilgamesh from writing to the shoot, on a single film: "Le Voyage dans la Lune" (A Trip to the Moon), after Georges Méliès (1902). Six scenes, six astronomers, a shell and the Moon.
The film exists at three stages, one per path. Each one opens from the Script Library, "Open an example…" menu.
| Path | Project opened | You learn to… |
|---|---|---|
| 1: First draft | the text only | write a scene, bring characters and locations to life, take notes, keep a version |
| 2: Development | + sheets, arc, props | go deeper into the sheets, draw an arc, send a version to read |
| 3: Preparation | + casting, scouting | create a shot, draw the floor plan, choose the actors and the sets |
Allow half an hour per path. Each unit stands on its own: stop and pick up wherever you like.
The example project is written in French; the scenes you add can be in any language.
Missions
On an example project, the Overview opens on the Tutorial panel: five missions, ticked off by themselves once you have done them, as on a real project. "Go there" opens the page where you do it.
When all are done, the tutorial is complete: its achievement is added in Settings › Preferences, with those of the pages. The panel is turned off in Settings › Preferences ("Built-in tutorial").
Before you start
- A Gilgamesh account (create an account).
- A computer or a tablet: the floor plan can be viewed on a phone, but is prepared on a wider screen.
Nothing to break
Each example project is your own copy. Change it, delete it: the "Open an example…" menu makes a fresh one.
