Locations & Sets
Each location has a sheet: the set, its sub-locations, its furniture, its plan and the scenes that take place there.
Locations and sub-locations
A location can contain others, on one level: the apartment, and its kitchen; the Moon, and its cave.
- Drag a location onto another to file it there.
- With the keyboard: Alt+↑ / Alt+↓ files it in the neighbouring location, Alt+← takes it out of its location.
In a scene heading, the sub-location follows its location: INT. APARTMENT - KITCHEN - NIGHT.
The sheet
Identity
- Name.
- Type: interior or exterior. It goes into the heading of the scenes shot here (
INT. CAFÉ - DAY). - Place, period, function, and a summary.
The set plan
The plan of the location seen from above: walls, openings, furniture. Its tools sit on the plan, as on the floor plan. The grid step (the size of a square) is set in Settings › Project, for all the project's plans.
Furniture
Furniture dresses the location and is placed on its plan: choose a prop, or create it. Removing a piece of furniture from the location does not delete it: it stays in the project, on the Props page.
Go deeper, media
- Go deeper into the location: choose a field in the list (appearance, perception, history, relationships, dramatic function, potential), or a free field; the padlock protects a text.
- A photo and reference media.
- The real places that could stand in for the set have their own page: Scouting.
