Account and security

Account

Settings › Account: your profile is saved with the "Save" button; a confirmation sums up what changes before applying it.

Profile

  • Photo.
  • Display name: your username, or your first and last name. It is the name you appear under: comments, sent versions, author of your new projects.
  • First name, last name, occupation, phone.
  • Email address: changing it asks for your password again; the new address is confirmed by a link, and the old one receives a link to cancel.

Account type

  • A reader account reads the versions sent to it.
  • An author account also writes its own projects.

Switching to author requires an invitation code. Switching back to reader deletes your projects; the versions you received remain.

Space

The space used by your projects, their media and your trash, out of what your account allows. Photos, sounds and videos weigh the most; a screenplay on its own stays light. Once the maximum is reached, you can no longer add media: delete some, or empty the trash.

Invite

One invitation code per person you invite: it works only once and expires after 30 days. Send the code, or the link that pre-fills the sign-up. A code withdrawn, or expired without being used, comes back to you.

My data

"Prepare my archive": an archive with everything Gilgamesh keeps about your account, projects included. It is prepared in the background; an email lets you know when it is ready, to download here for 48 hours. See Your data.

Delete my account

Erases your account and everything in it; an email confirms it. Download your data first. Your comments on other authors' projects are anonymised. The server's encrypted backups erase themselves within 14 days.

Security

Password

At least 10 characters. Changing your password sends an alert to your address.

Two-factor authentication

A code on top of the password at each sign-in: a stolen password is no longer enough.

  1. Security › Two-factor authentication › "Turn on".
  2. Choose: an authenticator app (Google Authenticator, 1Password, Aegis…) or a code by email.
  3. Write down your backup codes and keep them safe: they replace a code if you lose your phone.

"Remember this device" skips the code for 30 days on a device of your own.

Active sessions

The list of devices signed in to your account. "Close" signs a device out.

Alerts

An email warns you of a sign-in from an unknown browser, a changed password, two-factor authentication turned on or off, a new address.
