Why Gilgamesh
Gilgamesh is a film production bible: the tool that links the writing of a film to its preparation. The screenplay, characters, locations, shot list, floor plan and sides live in a single project, and each one feeds the others.
One piece of data, one place
A word processor holds a screenplay; a spreadsheet, a breakdown; a drawing program, a floor plan. Between them, everything is copied by hand, and everything drifts apart at the first rewrite.
In Gilgamesh, what you write once is used everywhere:
- the cast of a scene feeds the character's sheet, the breakdown and the sides;
- the location of a scene forms its heading, files the scene in the breakdown by set and fills in the location's sheet;
- a shot, anchored on a passage of the text, becomes a camera on the floor plan, then a line of the shot list;
- the running time played on the floor plan replaces the estimate from page count, all the way to the Overview.
Renaming a character renames all their lines; moving a scene renumbers the whole film.

Open to other tools
Your screenplay is not locked in: it imports from Fountain, PDF, Word and Final Draft, and exports to PDF, Word, Final Draft and Fountain. The whole project comes out as one archive. See Formats.
Confidential
A film project is confidential. The publisher only hosts your projects for you; they are never used to train any model, and nothing is loaded from a third party. See Your data.
