Guide › Shooting

Prep

The Prep page lays out two documents for the crew, to print or export:

  • the shot list: the shots, scene by scene;
  • the breakdown: the scenes, with their set, their time, their characters and their elements.

They are not written here: they draw on the scenes, the shots and the floor plan. Choose the document in the inspector, Document section.

The shot list

Order

  • Narrative: the screenplay's order.
  • By setup: within each scene, the shots taken from the same camera position follow one another.

Display

Tick what the document shows: the scene's summary, the directing, the floor plan, the shot's text, scenes with no shot, one scene per page when printed.

Export

  • Print: PDF: A4 landscape, in the chosen order and display.
  • Spreadsheet: .csv: all the columns (six principles, camera, light, transitions…), in the chosen order; the separator can be chosen (semicolon, comma, tab).
  • Spreadsheet and images: .zip: the spreadsheet, and all the floor plan snapshots sorted by scene and setup; the spreadsheet's "Images" column finds them.

The breakdown

Order

  • Narrative: the screenplay's order.
  • By set: the scenes of the same set together, day then night, with the set's total length.

Export

  • Print: PDF (A4 landscape).
  • Spreadsheet: .csv: one row per scene, with the narrative time, the estimated running time and the number of shots.

Pages or continuous text

At the top of the inspector, Pages or Continuous text: the same choice as for the sides, on this device. Printing always comes out as pages.
