Guide › Getting started
Create an account
Gilgamesh is in alpha: accounts are created by invitation, with a code.
The invitation code
The person who invites you sends you a code, on its own or in a link that pre-fills the sign-up form. It works only once and expires after 30 days.
Sign up
- On the sign-in screen, choose to create an account.
- Fill in:
- your username: it identifies you and is used to sign in (without "@");
- your email address: it confirms your account, recovers your password and receives security alerts;
- a password of at least 10 characters;
- the invitation code.
- Tick the terms of use box (you must be at least 18).
- Open the confirmation link you receive by email. Check your spam folder too.
Until the address is confirmed, sign-in stays closed. An unconfirmed sign-up is deleted after 7 days.
Sign in
With your username or your address, and your password. If you turned on two-factor authentication, you are then asked for a code.
After several failures, sign-in locks for a while, longer each time: it protects you from anyone trying to guess your password.
Forgotten password
- Sign-in screen › "Forgot your password?".
- Your username or your address.
- Open the link you receive and choose a new password. Your other sessions are closed.
Reader or author
An account created from a reading link is a reader account: it reads the versions sent to it. An author account also writes its own projects; you become one with an invitation code (Settings › Account). See Account and security.
