Organize

Organize shows the treatment: the structure of the story as sticky notes, one scene per note, grouped by sections (acts, chapters…).

Page being finished

Organize is still being reworked: this page describes what exists today and will be completed.

The sticky notes

Each sticky note is a scene: its number, its title, the characters present and, marked ▲, the turning points of the arcs that happen in it (a click on one opens the character's sheet). It has two fields:

  • in fiction: Action and Stakes;
  • in documentary: Observed reality and Evolution.

These are the same fields as the Action and Stakes of the Context, in Write: changing them here changes them there.

  • "+ block" creates a scene.
  • Drag a sticky note by its handle to change the film's order or move it to another section.
  • A double-click opens the scene in Write.

Sections

Sticky notes are grouped by section: Act, Chapter, or the name you choose (Settings › Project › Organize › Section name). Deleting a section does not delete its sticky notes: they are detached.

Two views

Settings › Project › Organize › View:

  • Vertical: the grid of all the sticky notes;
  • Horizontal: a timeline, the active scene in the middle, the previous one on the left and the next one on the right (on a phone, the active one alone). Only the scene in the middle can be edited; a click on a neighbour brings it to the middle. The mouse wheel and the arrows ← → move from one scene to the next (wheel direction and keys: Settings › Shortcuts).

The inspector

For the chosen sticky note:

  • Setting of the action: time of the action, location / set;
  • Characters present: tick or untick; a name typed in "New character…" creates the character and casts them;
  • Block colour, and the name of that colour in the legend;
  • "Delete the block": the scene and its shots are deleted (Versions lets you go back).

Organize's settings (view, grouping, section name, fiction or documentary fields, sticky note colour as a background or a band) belong to the project: Settings › Project › Organize.
