Guide › Share
Share
Here, you read the screenplay and the project's other documents as pages, print or export them, and share the screenplay. To write or edit the text, go to Write.
At the top of the page, two tabs: Documents and Sent (Sent versions and comments).
The document shown
Inspector › Document: choose the document, the Screenplay (Share always opens on it), the Full Bible, the Step outline, the Shot list file, or one of your own. The Screenplay shows the number of open comments. The other documents: The project documents.
The Screenplay
The scenes end to end, on A4 pages, in screenplay layout. The list on the left leads to each scene and gives its page; the button at the end of the row opens it in Write.
Inspector › Layout:
- Title page;
- Scene numbers in the margin.
These two options are saved with the project: they apply to every screen, to the Word export and to the screenplay section of the other documents. The layout follows the screenplay format (Settings › Project): one page ≈ one minute on screen, fixed-width font, width per element.
Comments
Select a passage on the pages, then Inspector › Comments › "Comment". Your readers comment the same way. On a note, "Fix" opens Write on its scene, with the cursor on the quoted passage.
Comments are placed on the Screenplay: on another document, the section says so and "Open the Screenplay" goes back to it.
Compare two versions
As soon as a version has been sent, a Compare bar sits above the Screenplay's pages:
- From: a sent version. To: another version, or the current state.
- "Compare": scenes changed, added, deleted or moved are marked on the pages, with the details of the text (additions highlighted, removals struck through).
- "Only what changed" hides the rest; "Close the comparison" goes back to the text.
Your readers have the same bar.
Export
Inspector › Export "Screenplay":
| Format | For |
|---|---|
| Print: PDF | reading, sending; in the browser's window, destination "Save as PDF" |
| Word: .docx | reviewing, annotating in a word processor |
| Final Draft: .fdx | production |
| Fountain: .fountain | any text editor, and other screenwriting software |
A screenplay exported by Gilgamesh imports again as it is. See Formats.
What is still missing in the project (a scene with no location, a character mentioned but not cast…) can be read in the Overview, Review section.
